On the night between May 7 and 8, the Pakistan Army allegedly made an attempt to strike the Golden Temple in Amritsar, according to a senior officer from the Indian Army. This move reportedly came after Indian forces carried out precise strikes targeting terror camps located in both Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). However, the Indian Army’s robust air defence system successfully detected and intercepted the attack, preventing any damage to the sacred site.

The officer confirmed that Pakistan used drones and long-range missiles in the failed attempt. However, India’s advanced and well-coordinated air defence system successfully intercepted the attack, preventing any damage. The situation has further escalated tensions between the two nations, with India showcasing the strength of its defensive capabilities.

The Indian Army revealed that the Golden Temple was among the key targets in what they described as a “massive air assault” by Pakistan during the early hours of May 8. According to officials, this attack was part of a larger attempt by Pakistan to strike both military and civilian areas across India, including religious sites.

Major General Kartik C Seshadri, who leads an infantry division stationed in Amritsar, stated that the Army had anticipated such moves from Pakistan, especially since there were no legitimate military targets for them to strike. He added that the Golden Temple stood out as a likely target based on credible intelligence inputs and prior internal assessments.
