Referring to the Bombay High Court’s directions on the Maratha Kranti Morcha at Azad Maidan, CM Devendra Fadnavis said the state will act strictly against protesters violating the law. He also rejected NCP(SP) chief Sharad Pawar’s claim that Maratha reservation can be resolved only after a Union government decision.

Fadnavis on High Court’s Displeasure Over Protesters
Fadnavis said he understood the High Court’s displeasure over the conduct of Maratha reservation protesters. He noted that permission for the Azad Maidan Morcha was granted with conditions, which were violated. Calling the protesters’ street behavior wrong, he stressed that the administration must act in line with the court’s directions

Fadnavis remarked that some incidents during earlier Maratha morchas were unfortunate, raising concerns about the decline of the state’s cultural values. He further emphasized that maintaining peace, discipline, and respect during demonstrations is essential to uphold democratic values. The Chief Minister appealed to all protesters to voice their demands in a lawful and dignified manner, ensuring that the image of Maharashtra remains untarnished while the government works toward addressing their issues responsibly.
