A private bus traveling from Bengaluru to Gokarna via Shivamogga caught fire after a truck collided with it from behind. Several passengers escaped the burning vehicle by jumping out, avoiding further casualties. Authorities reported that the truck driver’s negligence caused the accident on the Bengaluru-Pune-Mumbai highway. The driver jumped a road-divider, lost control, and crashed directly into the oncoming bus.

Local police quickly arrived at the scene and shifted the injured passengers to nearby hospitals. Senior officers from Tumakuru and Chitradurga inspected the accident site while fire tenders extinguished the flames. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy stated that over-speeding appeared to be the main cause of the crash. Transport Commissioner Yogeshwar and Assistant Commissioner Omkareshwari were directed to inspect the site and submit detailed reports.
