Vikram Bhatt recently defended Vijay and Trisha Krishnan after the two were spotted together at a wedding reception during Vijay’s ongoing divorce dispute. Bhatt shared a detailed note on Instagram urging people to stop judging actors based on their personal relationships. He stated that audiences have the right to discuss films but should avoid interfering in celebrities’ private lives. His post quickly gained attention online as speculation about Vijay and Trisha continued across social media platforms.

In his note, Vikram Bhatt reflected on personal freedom and relationships, saying his recent legal troubles and time in jail changed his outlook on life. He explained that experiencing incarceration helped him understand the importance of basic freedoms and emotional independence. According to him, people sometimes remain trapped in relationships that no longer bring happiness simply because society expects them to stay together. Bhatt compared such situations to another form of imprisonment, where individuals feel emotionally confined despite living outside physical jail.

The filmmaker also addressed the rumours surrounding Vijay and Trisha but clarified that he does not know whether the claims circulating online are true. However, he said the harsh public reactions pushed him to express his thoughts. Bhatt described love as unpredictable and said the human heart often seeks happiness wherever it finds comfort. He added that people sometimes move away from relationships when they no longer provide emotional fulfillment, and society should respect those personal decisions instead of condemning them.

    Divorce case and public attention

Bhatt further criticised what he described as hypocrisy in society’s judgment of relationships. He argued that many individuals who publicly criticise celebrities often lead secret lives themselves. According to him, some people hide dating profiles, delete messages, and maintain private relationships while still judging others. Bhatt said he finds something admirable in people who refuse to pretend their feelings do not exist, suggesting that honesty about emotions requires courage in a judgmental environment.

The filmmaker’s post came shortly after Vijay and Trisha attended a wedding reception in Chennai together. Their appearance drew attention because Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, reportedly filed for divorce in December 2025 after 27 years of marriage. In her petition, she cited infidelity, mental cruelty, neglect, and desertion as reasons for ending the relationship. Vijay has not directly addressed the allegations, but during a recent Women’s Day event he asked supporters not to worry about his personal issues and said he would handle them privately.
