APJ Abdul Kalam continues to inspire India with his enduring legacy in science, leadership, and public service. Born in Tamil Nadu in 1931, Kalam pursued physics and aerospace engineering and went on to dedicate nearly four decades to the nation’s defence and space programs. He played a key role at Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), where he actively contributed to missile development and the civilian space programme, earning the title “Missile Man of India.”

In 2002, the country elected Kalam as President with strong support from both the ruling party and the opposition, reflecting his wide respect across political lines. He approached the role with dedication and humility, placing national development and youth empowerment at the forefront of his vision.

Even after completing his presidential term, Kalam remained actively involved in teaching, writing, and engaging with students across the country. He consistently encouraged young minds to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals.

Kalam passed away in July 2015 after suffering a cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture at Indian Institute of Management Shillong, doing what he loved most—sharing knowledge.

Honouring his remarkable journey and lasting impact, today’s quote of the day reflects his philosophy of action and determination: “If you want to leave your footprints on the sands of time, do not drag your feet.”
