Delhi Police arrested two wanted criminals, Akash Rajput from Sri Ganganagar and Mahipal from Bharatpur, Rajasthan, following a shootout in Kapashera, southwest Delhi. The duo was involved in extorting businessmen across Haryana, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Acting on a tip-off, police set a trap in Kapashera, where the suspects opened fire upon spotting officers. During the exchange, Rajput was injured in the leg and hospitalized, while Mahipal was apprehended.

According to the police, Rajput was involved in a July 2022 shooting outside a hospital in Assandh, Karnal, which was done to threaten someone for extortion, following orders from a foreign-based gangster named Daler Kotia. He was also wanted for a July 2025 kidnapping case in Gujarat, where another foreign gangster, Kirit Singh Jhala, demanded Rs 100 crore as ransom. The Rajasthan Police have announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for information leading to his arrest, said Kushwaha.
Delhi: fake passport to escape abroad
Currently, Rajput has teamed up with Rajasthan’s wanted criminals Jagdish Jagla and Abhishek Gaur. Through them, he connected with gangsters Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan. He is also close to getting a fake passport to escape abroad. Police said his crimes show a connection between gangsters from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Haryana.
Mahipal, who was previously arrested for the Assandh, Karnal firing case, was out on bail. Since then, he has connected with foreign-based gangsters along with Rajput.
