    Authorities brought the mortal remains of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to Vidya Pratishtan ground in Baramati for the last rites. Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Baramati to pay his respects. At the same time, DGCA and forensic teams reached the crash site to begin the investigation.

    Ajit Pawar and four others died when a plane crashed in Baramati town on Wednesday morning, raising serious questions about the flight operator and the condition of the airstrip. The 66-year-old NCP leader was travelling in a mid-size business jet that took off from Mumbai at 8.10 am and was scheduled to address rallies for the upcoming rural body elections.

    Leaders gather in Baramati as Ajit Pawar’s funeral takes place today

    Authorities will hold the final rites of the NCP president at the Vidya Pratishtan grounds, an educational institution established by the Pawar family, with full state honours at 11 am on Thursday. Large crowds, including party workers from Baramati and across the state, have gathered in the town to pay their last respects to the late leader .NCP–SCP leader Supriya Sule met and consoled Sunetra Pawar as preparations began for the last rites of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reached Baramati to attend the ceremony. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also arrived at Baramati Airport to pay his respects and attend the last rites.

    Hundreds of people gathered outside the residence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in his native village of Katewadi on Thursday morning to pay their final respects to the leader, who died in a plane crash.

    Residents from Katewadi and nearby villages in Pune district, along with NCP workers, lined up at the gates and raised slogans such as “Ajit Dada Amar Rahe” and “Ajit Dada Parat Ya” (Ajit Dada, please come back).
