Border 2 is set to give Hindi cinema its first hit of 2026, with early trends pointing to a massive opening for Sunny Deol’s upcoming war drama. While Telugu cinema has enjoyed a strong start to the year, the film is expected to break multiple box office records when it releases on Friday and could even deliver the biggest opening of Deol’s career.
Border 2 advance bookings pick up strongly
Border 2 opened advance booking in India on Wednesday. Pre-sales had already begun in select overseas markets like Canada, Germany, and Australia. The film quickly gained momentum worldwide.
In just over three days, audiences booked nearly 2 lakh tickets nationwide for the opening day.
According to Sacnilk, Border 2 grossed nearly ₹5.75 crore from Day 1 advance bookings as of 9 am on Thursday. The Anurag Singh directorial is selling around 4,000 tickets per hour on BookMyShow Thursday morning. This doubles its sales since Tuesday.
Trade analysts expect the film’s advance collections to cross ₹10 crore by midnight.
Advance bookings have outperformed several recent Bollywood releases, including Dhurandhar. The Ranveer Singh actioner had not crossed ₹4 crore a day before release. Border 2 has already collected nearly ₹6 crore. Experts predict it will surpass Dhurandhar’s ₹28 crore and Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which opened at ₹31 crore, on its first day.
As of Thursday morning, analysts project Border 2 to earn ₹32-35 crore net in India. This marks a huge opening for Sunny Deol, whose last release, Jaat, earned ₹9 crore on day one.
Optimistic forecasts suggest the film could cross ₹40 crore if positive word of mouth spreads. Spot bookings in smaller centres could also boost collections, where Sunny commands a strong fan base.
If that happens, Border 2 could surpass Gadar 2’s opening-day collection of ₹40.1 crore.
