A major security breach occurred at Indira Gandhi International Airport when a British national, arriving from Bangkok, allegedly fled the immigration area and escaped into the city, prompting a large-scale search operation, police said on Friday. Patrick, who was scheduled for deportation to the United Kingdom via Thailand, evaded authorities upon his arrival in Delhi. He escaped from the immigration area and left the airport premises before authorities could formally process him, police said. A senior police officer confirmed a security lapse at Indira Gandhi International Airport and stated that Delhi Police, along with security agencies, launched a search operation, filed an FIR, and began questioning airline staff.
CISF and Police Launch Search for Fugitive After Escape at Delhi Airport
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), along with the Bureau of Immigration and Delhi Police, has launched a coordinated effort to locate the fugitive. Officials are scanning airport CCTV footage to reconstruct the events and identify any lapses that may have allowed the escape. The local police station registered a case, and teams are searching for potential hideouts and exit points across the National Capital Region (NCR). Authorities are also verifying details about the passenger’s motive, background, and current whereabouts.
