Flight Cadet Divyanshi Singh became the first woman trained at the National Defence Academy to join the Indian Air Force Ground Duty branch. She achieved this historic milestone during the Combined Graduation Parade held at Air Force Academy, Dundigal. The ceremony included 230 graduating cadets from different Indian Air Force branches and training programmes. Divyanshi Singh completed three years of rigorous military training at the National Defence Academy located in Pune successfully. She later joined the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad for specialised Ground Duty branch professional instruction. During NDA training, she served as Cadet Quarter Master Sergeant with important leadership and administrative responsibilities. She trained alongside male cadets under the same disciplined environment, physical conditioning, and leadership programmes regularly. Her dedication and performance reflected determination toward serving India through the Indian Air Force professionally.
The Supreme Court allowed women candidates for NDA entrance examinations through a landmark judgement delivered during 2021. Following this decision, the National Defence Academy opened admissions for women candidates across military training programmes officially. Divyanshi joined the first batch of five women cadets entering the prestigious tri-services academy during 2022. Their successful completion of training marked an important transformation within India’s defence education and military institutions.
