NEW DELHI: IndiGo will operate its flights under the revised pilot duty norms starting Wednesday (February 11). The changes come in line with updated regulations issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The airline will implement these guidelines across its entire network to comply with the latest safety and fatigue management standards.

Under the new framework, stricter limits have been placed on pilots’ flight duty hours and mandatory rest periods. These measures aim to improve aviation safety by reducing pilot fatigue and ensuring better work-life balance for crew members. To meet the updated requirements, flight schedules and crew rostering systems are expected to be revised accordingly.

With the implementation of these norms, operational planning will also be adjusted. Flight timings, crew deployment, and turnaround schedules may be reorganised to accommodate enhanced rest provisions. Airlines may need to revise rosters and manage resources more efficiently to ensure compliance.

While some short-term adjustments could occur, experts believe the long-term goal is to strengthen safety standards and improve operational reliability. Passengers can expect smoother operations and safer flights once the new rules are fully integrated, and the airline has stated that communication regarding any schedule changes will be provided in advance.

IndiGo to Follow New DGCA Pilot Duty Norms from Feb 11

The DGCA has emphasised that adherence to the revised duty time regulations is mandatory for all airlines. IndiGo’s operations, therefore, will be conducted strictly in accordance with these directives from the effective date. The move has been viewed as part of broader regulatory efforts aimed at maintaining high safety benchmarks in India’s rapidly growing aviation sector.
