Kanpur Lamborghini crash case update: Shivam Mishra arrested after luxury car hit six people in Gwaltoli. Police cite CCTV evidence.

Kanpur Police arrested Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco industrialist K.K. Mishra, in connection with the high-profile Lamborghini crash that injured six people and damaged several vehicles in the upscale Gwaltoli area. The accident took place around 3 pm on February 8 on VIP Road, when a Lamborghini Revuelto, valued at over ₹10 crore, rammed into pedestrians and nearby vehicles before mounting a divider and coming to a stop.

One of the injured victims, 18-year-old e-rickshaw driver Mohd Taufeeq, filed an FIR against the driver. Authorities later presented Shivam, 35, before a Kanpur court, which sent him to police remand for further questioning. Investigators seized the luxury car and sent it for forensic examination.

Driver Claim Sparks Controversy in Court

The case took a dramatic turn when a man named Mohan claimed that he was driving the car at the time of the crash. Speaking outside the court, Mohan said Shivam suddenly suffered a seizure and collapsed on him while he was driving. According to Mohan, he lost control of the vehicle in panic, which caused the car to hit a three-wheeler and climb the divider.

Mohan also alleged that the car’s automatic locking system delayed his exit. He claimed that after the crash, he shifted Shivam to the driver’s seat before stepping out. His lawyer filed a surrender application in court, but police did not name him as an accused. The court refused to accept his surrender and directed the local police to submit a detailed report.

Police Cite Evidence; Defence Alleges Settlement

Police officials maintained that evidence clearly shows Shivam was behind the wheel. Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal stated that CCTV footage, eyewitness statements, and other material confirm Shivam’s presence in the driver’s seat. Senior officers also referred to videos that allegedly show bystanders pulling a man believed to be Shivam from the driver’s side immediately after the crash.

Initially, authorities registered the FIR against an unidentified driver but later amended it to name Shivam as the accused. Meanwhile, the defence claimed that the complainant reached a mutual settlement and no longer wished to pursue the case. Shivam’s lawyer asserted that Mohan paid compensation for medical treatment and damages.

Sources revealed that officials called Taufeeq to the police station on the day of the crash, where he allegedly signed a written settlement in the presence of the then station house officer. Authorities later removed the SHO from his post, although senior officers declined to comment on the settlement allegations.

Shivam’s family has maintained that he suffers from epilepsy and receives treatment in Delhi. They denied allegations of speeding or intoxication. However, police rejected these claims and reiterated that technical and visual evidence places Shivam behind the wheel at the time of the crash.
