The National Investigation Agency (NIA) approached a special court in Jammu and submitted an application related to the investigation of the Pahalgam attack that took place last year. Investigators recovered several materials and electronic devices connected to the planning and execution of the Pahalgam attack. Among the seized items, the agency identified a GoPro camera as a crucial piece of evidence.

NIA officials informed the court that the GoPro camera could help investigators understand the activities of the terrorist module before the Pahalgam attack. The device may contain important information about the reconnaissance carried out by the attackers, their movement in the area, and the operational preparations they made before executing the Pahalgam attack.
Court seeks China’s help in Pahalgam attack probe
To move the investigation forward, the NIA requested the court to seek international cooperation. Acting on the request, the NIA court in Jammu issued a Letter Rogatory to the competent judicial authorities in China. Through this request, the court asked Chinese authorities to help identify the supply chain and end-user details of the GoPro camera linked to the Pahalgam attack investigation.
NIA Deputy Inspector General Sandeep Choudhary filed the application under Section 112 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which allows Indian courts to seek assistance from foreign authorities when evidence related to cases like the Pahalgam attack may exist outside India.
Investigators believe that the information obtained through international cooperation may help them trace how the electronic device reached the individuals involved in the Pahalgam attack. Officials expect that details about the device’s purchase, activation, and usage will provide new leads and strengthen the evidence in the Pahalgam attack case.
The Pahalgam attack took place on April 22 last year in the Baisaran area of South Kashmir. During the Pahalgam attack, terrorists killed 25 tourists and a local guide, triggering a large-scale investigation by security agencies.
