PM Narendra Modi spoke with leaders of Qatar, France, Jordan, Oman, and Malaysia on Thursday. Raising concerns over tensions in West Asia, he urged immediate steps to de-escalate the conflict. The prime minister also condemned attacks on energy infrastructure in the region.
During separate calls, the prime minister pushed for dialogue and diplomacy. Efforts must focus on restoring peace, security, and stability quickly, he said. He further stressed the need for safe and uninterrupted movement through the Strait of Hormuz.
As tensions escalated, Israel struck Iran’s South Pars gas field, while Tehran responded with attacks across the Gulf. Amid this situation, Modi engaged regional leaders again and highlighted the urgent need for de-escalation. A return to dialogue and diplomacy remains essential, he added.
After speaking with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, PM Modi said India stands in solidarity with Qatar. He strongly condemned attacks on energy infrastructure and emphasized the importance of ensuring free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Separately, Modi held talks with Emmanuel Macron and emphasized the urgent need for de-escalation. He called for a return to dialogue and said both sides will continue close coordination to promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.
