During an event in Berlin, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of targeting political opponents unfairly. He claimed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are being weaponised against opposition leaders. Gandhi alleged that BJP supporters are spared while critics face threats and intimidation consistently. He said India’s democratic institutions are under serious political capture, which threatens fair governance nationwide. The Congress leader emphasised that these institutions were built as public assets, not political tools for parties. Gandhi warned that BJP treats institutions as instruments to consolidate power and suppress dissent effectively.

Rahul Gandhi again raised allegations of vote manipulation in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections. He claimed Congress won elections in Telangana,Himachal Pradesh but faced unfair electoral practices. He said India’s electoral machinery has serious flaws that require urgent reforms to ensure fairness. Gandhi accused the Election Commission of ignoring issues such as duplicate voter entries and irregularities.He warned that unaddressed irregularities could undermine public trust and weaken India’s democratic processesGandhi argued that the party possesses clear evidence of victory in Haryana and demanded accountability.

Gandhi criticised Modi government’s economic policies, claiming they continue earlier frameworks without providing new direction. He said the government’s vision has reached a dead end and risks increasing social tensions nationwide. Gandhi emphasised that the struggle represents a clash between two competing visions for India’s future. He stated that protecting institutional integrity is crucial to prevent authoritarian misuse of government power. Gandhi argued that opposition resistance is essential to safeguard democracy and uphold constitutional principles effectively.

BJP Responds Criticizing Gandhi, Democracy and Institutional Integrity Under Debate

BJP leaders criticised Rahul Gandhi, calling him anti-national and accusing him of spreading misinformation abroad. Pradeep Bhandari alleged Gandhi, along with foreign ideological interests, aims to create chaos in India. Shobha Karandlaje claimed Gandhi travels internationally to speak against India, undermining its democratic progress. The BJP said Gandhi’s statements attempt to weaken public confidence and democratic stability in India. Party leaders stressed that India will continue strengthening democratic institutions despite opposition allegations and criticism.

Gandhi reiterated that Congress is fighting against institutional capture, not the BJP personally. He warned that misuse of investigative agencies threatens democracy and could erode rule of law nationwide. He stressed that India’s institutions should serve all citizens equally, rather than advancing partisan agendas selectively. Gandhi urged citizens and opposition parties to actively safeguard electoral integrity and independent institutions.
