Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to scrap the India–US trade deal. He argued that the agreement would harm Indian farmers. Therefore, while addressing the ‘Kisan Mahachaupal’ rally in Bhopal, he described the interim pact as damaging to the farming community.

Meanwhile, Gandhi referred to a US Supreme Court ruling that struck down global tariffs introduced during former US President Donald Trump’s tenure. He then challenged Modi to withdraw from the deal in light of the ruling. According to him, the agreement does not serve India’s interests.

Furthermore, he accused Modi of rushing into the pact to benefit Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri and industrialist Gautam Adani. He also alleged that the deal supports corporate interests rather than public welfare. As a result, he described Adani as part of the BJP’s financial backbone.

In addition, Gandhi raised concerns about developments linked to the Epstein files in the US. He also questioned Modi’s ties with business figures such as Anil Ambani. Moreover, he claimed that legal actions involving Adani in the US target Modi politically.

Finally, Gandhi said Modi finalised the agreement without consulting the Cabinet. He linked its timing to discussions in Parliament over issues mentioned in former Army chief M. M. Naravane’s book. Thus, he repeated that the deal puts farmers, the textile sector, and national data at risk.
