The controversy involving Shivaji Maharaj’s portrait has sparked strong public reactions after a viral video claimed that his image appeared outside a washroom in Haryana. The clip spread quickly across social media platforms, drawing criticism from users and political leaders alike. Because Shivaji Maharaj holds immense historical and cultural importance in India, the issue escalated rapidly and turned into a politically sensitive debate.

What Triggered the Row?

The viral video allegedly showed portraits of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Rani Padmini placed outside washrooms at a banquet hall in Faridabad. The footage identified the location as Milan Banquet Hall in Sikri village.

Soon after the clip surfaced, social media users condemned the alleged act. Many described it as disrespectful. As a result, calls for investigation grew louder. Furthermore, the video continued circulating widely, which intensified public scrutiny.

Political Reactions and Allegations

As the debate expanded online, some accounts claimed that the banquet hall had links to a legislator from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Consequently, the issue gained political attention.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad shared the visuals and termed them unacceptable. She urged authorities to act swiftly. However, she did not directly accuse any specific individual. Therefore, the matter remains politically sensitive but unverified.

Owner Denies Involvement

Tiparchand, identified as the banquet hall owner and brother of a BJP MLA, denied the allegations. According to him, the interior seen in the video does not match his property. In addition, he shared photographs to support his claim.

He further stated that certain individuals may have linked his name to the controversy due to recent demolition drives against illegal banquet halls. As a result, he is considering legal action against those spreading what he calls misleading information.
