    Tarique Rahman sworn in as Bangladesh Prime Minister marks a major political shift after the parliamentary elections. He took oath in Dhaka before President Mohammed Shahabuddin. Around 1,200 guests attended the ceremony at the parliament complex. The event followed BNP’s strong electoral performance.

    Rahman will lead 25 cabinet ministers and 24 ministers of state. Senior BNP leaders received key portfolios, including finance, home, and energy. Dr. Khalilur Rahman joined the cabinet as Foreign Minister under the technocrat category. The new team signals stability and administrative continuity.

    After the ceremony, Rahman met foreign dignitaries, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Birla delivered an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit India. Leaders from Maldives and Pakistan also attended the event. The outreach highlights Dhaka’s diplomatic engagement.

    Rahman returned from exile in December 2025 and revitalized the BNP. He now leads Bangladesh at a crucial moment of reform. His government aims to implement governance changes under the July Charter framework.
