Trinamool Congress Holds Firm Despite Small Dip
The India Today–CVoter Mood of the Nation (MOTN) 2026 survey shows that the Trinamool Congress continues to dominate West Bengal. If Lok Sabha elections were held today, the party would win 28 of the 42 seats. That is just one seat fewer than its 29-seat victory in 2024.
The projection marks a drop from the 31 seats estimated in the August 2026 MOTN survey. However, the data shows no major shift in voter loyalty. Trinamool remains the strongest political force in the state ahead of the Assembly elections.
BJP Improves Seat Count but Trails Trinamool
The survey indicates steady gains for the BJP in West Bengal. The party could win 14 seats, up from 12 seats in the 2024 elections. This also improves on the 11 seats projected in the August MOTN edition.
The BJP-led NDA increases its vote share by three percentage points, rising from 39% to 42%. Despite this growth, the BJP still struggles to challenge Trinamool’s dominance. Analysts say Bengal now shows signs of a clear bipolar contest, with sharper political polarisation across the state.
