Arunachal Pradesh has recorded its first Covid-19 case in the ongoing wave, according to a senior health department official. State Surveillance Officer Dr. Lobsang Jampa confirmed on Wednesday, May 28, that two individuals a pregnant woman and her mother tested positive for the virus through RT-PCR tests.
The 34-year-old pregnant woman, who recently traveled from Bengaluru to Itanagar on May 13, initially showed symptoms of fever and mild cough. On Monday, she took a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), which returned a positive result. To confirm the diagnosis, health authorities conducted an RT-PCR test on Tuesday, which also came back positive.
Following the woman’s diagnosis, the health department tested her 53-year-old mother, who also tested positive via RT-PCR. The government continues to prioritize public safety and has urged citizens to cooperate fully with containment efforts.
