Delhi Police identified a 16-year-old girl whose severely decomposed body was found in Swaroop Nagar. The condition of the body initially made it difficult for investigators to determine her identity. Her face and abdomen were badly disfigured, while her right arm was missing. Police also found evidence suggesting that the teenager had suffered sexual assault and multiple stab injuries. Investigators later used a distinctive tattoo to establish her identity.

Three-Star Tattoo Became Key Clue
During the investigation, a police officer noticed a three-star tattoo on the victim’s left arm. Police then contacted the girl’s family in Tri Nagar and asked them to provide photographs. Her brother-in-law showed pictures stored on his phone, including one that displayed the same tattoo. The matching tattoo helped investigators confirm the victim’s identity. Medical examination later supported the police investigation into the alleged rape and murder.
Police found the mutilated body near Kushak Road in Swaroop Nagar and began examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Investigators spotted a tempo near the location around the suspected time of the crime. Although the vehicle’s number plate was unclear, police managed to trace the tempo and question its driver. During questioning, the driver revealed that his 17-year-old brother often used the vehicle. Further CCTV examination showed four suspects inside the tempo.

Four Suspects Apprehended
Police identified the four suspects but found that they had left their homes after the incident. Investigators launched a search operation and subsequently apprehended all four individuals. According to police, three of the four suspects are minors. Police said three accused have confessed to their involvement, while the investigation continues. Authorities are also working to establish the victim’s exact age through an ossification test.
Police said the victim’s body showed severe decomposition, making identification particularly challenging. Investigators believe the teenager was assaulted, stabbed and later abandoned in an open area. Animals had also attacked the body after it was dumped there. The case remains under investigation as police work to establish the complete sequence of events. Authorities are also examining available evidence and statements from the accused.
