Kumar was found dead from a gunshot wound at his Rohtak residence on October 7

He served as Inspector General at Police Training Centre, Sunaria, and was a 2001-batch IPS officer. His wife, senior IAS officer Amneet Kumar, has refused autopsy until the accused are arrested. Chandigarh Police confirmed that the postmortem is pending as identification and family consent are awaited. The SIT investigating the case has officially requested Mrs. Kumar to allow the procedure soon. In his final note, Mr. Kumar accused DGP Kapur and ex-Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya of harassment. His wife cited this note as the emotional trigger leading to the officer’s tragic suicide. Despite FIR registration, no arrests have been made, raising questions about police impartiality and delay.

Political leaders are also visiting the bereaved family, showing solidarity and seeking justice for the officer.
Rahul Gandhi is expected to meet the family personally, according to sources close to the matter. The state had already transferred former SP Bijarniya, one of the accused named in the FIR. Meanwhile, state officials have approached the officer’s wife to convince her for the postmortem.
