NEW DELHI: Police investigating the murder of dairy businessman Ratan in south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri have found that the shooters travelled from Faridabad and waited at the spot for nearly 30 minutes before opening fire. Investigators recovered 69 bullets from Ratan’s body. Police suspect the involvement of 12 to 13 people and are examining the possible role of a relative of a man allegedly killed by Ratan’s son earlier this year.

businessman Family recounts planned ambush
Ratan’s family said the attackers carried out a well-planned ambush while he was on his way to his dairy in Aya Nagar on Sunday. His brother Ram Kumar said Ratan had been receiving frequent death threats since May. “He left for the dairy, and within 10 minutes, the attackers brutally killed him,” he said.
Another relative, Dharmender, said the assailants conducted reconnaissance before the attack. “They arrived in a car and a motorcycle and kept moving around the area while waiting for their target,” he added.
Police probe family feud and land dispute angle
The family has linked the murder to an ongoing land dispute between two families, which intensified after Ratan’s son Deepak allegedly killed a man six months ago. Police arrested Deepak in that case.
A senior police officer said the murder appears to stem from personal rivalry, though investigators are exploring all angles. Police have not made any arrests yet and are analysing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify everyone involved in the premeditated attack.
