    The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will begin the GATE 2026 examination tomorrow, February 7. Authorities will conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 on February 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2026.

    Officials will hold the examination in two shifts each day — the morning session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. GATE 2026 will include 30 test papers, and candidates can appear for one or two papers. The authorities will conduct all test papers in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, with candidates viewing the questions on computer screens.

    GATE 2026 Examination: Key Instructions Issued

    Authorities have advised candidates appearing for the GATE 2026 examination to carefully read the important instructions. Candidates must carry a valid hall ticket to enter the examination centre and should verify all details on the admit card in advance. Invigilators will allow candidates to occupy their allotted seats 40 minutes before the scheduled start of the examination. Candidates can log in to the system and read the on-screen instructions 20 minutes before the exam begins.

    Authorities have strictly prohibited calculators, mobile phones, Bluetooth or electronic communication devices, wallets, books, papers, loose sheets, reference materials, pen or pencil pouches, and analog, digital or smart watches inside the examination hall. Officials will disqualify candidates found carrying any prohibited items, regardless of whether they use them. The exam centre will provide a scribble pad for rough work, and candidates must write their name and registration number on the pad before using it.
