    After completing a Bachelor’s in CSE, the Redditor spent a year working at a FAANG company. On paper, it seemed like the dream job, but they weren’t happy. While their colleagues traveled and enjoyed a high-end lifestyle, the Redditor found themselves saving 85% of their salary, having no desire to spend it. They felt out of place and, honestly, quite depressed. The corporate world just didn’t resonate with them, and their heart wasn’t in it.

    Redditor Leaves FAANG Job to Pursue PhD and Becomes Professor

    The Redditor reconnected with an old professor and decided to pursue a PhD in mathematics. Reflecting on the experience, they said, “The last four years were hectic and demanding, but for the first time, I felt truly content. Handling the stress was thrilling, and contributing to the field felt far more rewarding than working for corporate interests.” They also shared, “I recently applied for a professor position at the same university and got accepted.”
