    Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, recently issued a threatening statement to India that closely mirrors the aggressive rhetoric of terrorist Hafiz Saeed. His comments came during a public address where he spoke about the ongoing dispute over the Indus Waters Treaty between the two countries.

    Speaking at a university event in Pakistan, Chaudhry criticized India’s decision to suspend the treaty, which was a response to a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. He warned India by saying, “If you block our water, we will choke your breath,” echoing a similar tone used by Hafiz Saeed.

    This statement highlights the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan regarding water sharing, a critical issue that impacts both nations. The use of such hostile language by a senior military official further intensifies the already strained relations over the Indus water dispute.

    His statement mirrors the hostile rhetoric used by Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, known for his inflammatory speeches against India and the United States. In a video, making rounds on social media ‘X’, Hafiz saeed can be heard saying those same words.

    The statements come as India suspended parts of the Indus Waters treaty .on April 23, a day after the terror attack in Pahalgam killed 26 people. The treaty, signed in 1960 and brokered by the World Bank, governs the sharing of the Indus River and its tributaries between the two countries. It also requires both sides to share regular information on water use.
