Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Khaleduz Zaman has alleged serious irregularities at several polling stations during voting. Speaking to reporters, Zaman claimed that officials were sealing ballot papers in separate rooms without the presence of polling agents. He described the situation as disappointing and said he personally witnessed such incidents at multiple locations. Zaman added that while his party had remained hopeful of winning the election, such developments have raised concerns about the fairness of the process. He is contesting the election against BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.
In contrast, former BNP Minister Sarwari Rahman expressed satisfaction with the election arrangements. After casting her vote, she said the process was smooth and well organised. She noted that women voters were participating freely and confidently. Rahman said she felt happy to see what she described as proper elections taking place after many years. She expressed hope that the results would reflect the people’s mandate and that the newly elected parliament would function effectively.
