    Greenland

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen delivered a direct message to Donald Trump, demanding that he stop issuing threats regarding Greenland. She stated clearly that the idea of America seizing Greenland is not only wrong but also nonsensical. Her statement followed a provocative social media post by Katie Miller, wife of close Trump aide Stephen Miller, which displayed a map of Greenland colored with the American flag and the caption “SOON.”

In a statement on the Danish government’s website, Frederiksen emphasized that both Denmark and Greenland belong to NATO and remain secure under the alliance’s guarantees. She highlighted that an existing defense agreement already grants the U.S. access to Greenland, while Denmark has simultaneously increased its own Arctic security investments. Despite this, Trump spoke aboard Air Force One to claim Greenland remains vital for American national security, arguing that Denmark cannot fulfill this responsibility alone. The Danish ambassador also reminded the U.S. of their alliance, stating that Denmark expects full respect for its territorial sovereignty.

Greenland, home to roughly 57,000 people, has maintained autonomy since 1979, while Denmark manages its defense and foreign policy. Although most residents support future independence, surveys show they clearly reject the idea of becoming part of the United States.
