On Monday evening, Maani Pawar visited Mahindra’s showroom in Delhi’s Nirman Vihar for vehicle delivery.She had purchased a brand-new Mahindra Thar SUV worth Rs 27 lakh with her husband.Before taking the vehicle out, she decided to perform a pooja and a ritual for blessings.A lemon was placed under the front tyre as part of a customary religious vehicle ritual.The showroom staff assisted her in performing the ceremony inside the first-floor display area itself.

Thar Accidental Acceleration Causes Car to Crash from First Floor
Ms Pawar intended to gently move the vehicle forward to safely crush the lemon beneath the tyre. Instead, she accidentally pressed the accelerator and propelled the Thar forward with unexpected speed and force.The vehicle smashed through the glass wall and shot out of the showroom’s first-floor display area.It crashed onto the pavement below and flipped onto its side after the dramatic fall.A bystander captured a video showing the overturned Thar severely damaged on the street.
Showroom employee Vikas accompanied Ms Pawar inside the vehicle during the shocking accident.
The Thar’s airbags deployed immediately and protected both occupants from potentially serious injuries.
Onlookers rushed to the scene and quickly called emergency services for assistance.Showroom staff and nearby locals transported both victims to Malik Hospital without delay.Medical personnel treated their minor injuries and discharged them after providing prompt first aid..

Police Register Case Following Hospital Notification
At 6:08 pm, police received Maani Pawar’s medico-legal case (MLC) from the staff at Malik Hospital. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Abhishek Dhania, later confirmed the key details from the police report.He stated that Maani and her husband purchased the Thar Rox from the Mahindra showroom.
The crash occurred immediately after the delivery while they were performing the ritual inside the showroom.Police launched an enquiry to examine the showroom’s safety protocols and investigate possible negligence during delivery.
The accident has triggered serious concerns about the Mahindra showroom’s design and overall safety precautions.Many people now question why staff allowed test drives or rituals on upper floors without proper barriers.Experts warn that staff should never operate vehicles inside upper-level showrooms without installing safety protections.Mahindra has not released any official statement about the crash or announced a safety review.Authorities may soon order a structural audit to stop such incidents in high-rise automobile showrooms.
