Woman Sexually Assaulted After Birthday Party in Udaipur; IT Firm CEO Held

    Udaipur

    Three Arrested, Including Company CEO

A casual birthday celebration reportedly turned traumatic for a woman in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Police arrested three individuals, including the CEO of a private IT company, for allegedly gangraping a female manager after the party. Officials said the CEO hosted a birthday gathering last Saturday, which several colleagues attended, including the complainant, who works at the same firm. As the event ended, most guests left, leaving the woman behind, according to her complaint.

The woman told investigators that the company’s female executive head offered to drop her home. She agreed and got into the car, which the CEO and the executive head’s husband, a Meerut resident, also occupied. During the drive, the accused allegedly stopped at a shop and bought a substance resembling cigarettes, which they offered to the woman, PTI reported. Hindustan Times earlier stated that the accused bought liquor and allegedly forced her to consume alcohol. The woman claimed she lost consciousness soon after.

In her statement, the woman alleged that she regained consciousness while the three accused sexually assaulted her inside the moving vehicle, despite her resistance. She claimed that the accused kept her in the car until the early hours of the morning before dropping her at her residence. Experiencing severe pain and weakness, she underwent a medical examination at a private hospital, where doctors reportedly confirmed sexual assault. She then approached the police.

Police registered a case at Sukher police station based on her complaint under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. After questioning, officers arrested all three accused — the CEO, the female executive head, and her husband — on Thursday and produced them before a court. Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal said, “Police arrested the accused after registering the case at Sukher police station and produced them before the court, which remanded them to four days of police custody.” Police confirmed that they completed the woman’s medical examination and statements and handed the investigation over to Additional Superintendent of Police Madhuri Verma. Police continue to investigate the case.
