All newly issued Aadhaar cards come with a QR code, and UIDAI has developed a scanner app to verify them, said UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar. The app allows users to match the card’s details with the information in the QR code, helping detect and stop fake Aadhaar cards. He noted that some people may create Aadhaar-like cards using Photoshop or templates, but clarified that these are not genuine cards.

New Aadhaar App to Allow Digital ID Sharing with Privacy Option
Kumar also shared that a new Aadhaar app is nearing completion. UIDAI has already conducted a demo, and the team is currently testing the app internally. It will let users digitally share their identity with consent in a smooth and secure way. The upcoming Aadhaar app will remove the need to share physical copies, offering users the option to share either full or masked Aadhaar details based on their consent.

EC Says Voter List Revision on Track, No Change in Guidelines
Meanwhile, the Election Commission reaffirmed on Sunday that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process is progressing smoothly and that it has made no changes to the existing guidelines. The EC’s June 24 directive targets verifying nearly eight crore voters in Bihar by July 25 to remove ineligible entries and include only eligible voters.
