Delhi High Court judge Swarana Kanta Sharma said she will appoint three senior advocates as amicus curiae on Friday. After that, the court will hear the CBI’s arguments in the excise policy case. This step follows the decision of Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Durgesh Pathak to boycott the proceedings.

The judge noted that none of the three leaders appeared in court. To keep the case moving, she decided to appoint amicus curiae. An amicus curiae is a neutral lawyer who helps the court understand legal and factual issues.

The case reached the high court after a trial court discharged Kejriwal, Sisodia, and others on February 27. The trial court said the CBI failed to show even a prima facie case. The CBI then challenged this decision in the high court.

Several developments followed in the case. Kejriwal requested a transfer of the case and later asked the judge to step aside. The court rejected both requests, saying such claims lacked strong grounds.

After these decisions, Kejriwal and other leaders refused to attend the hearings. They said their concerns remained unresolved. Now, the court will appoint amicus curiae to assist and ensure the case proceeds smoothly.
