    Rahul Gandhi to host INDIA bloc dinner meet on August 7, first show of post-poll unity

    Leaders of the INDIA bloc will gather for a dinner meeting hosted by Rahul Gandhi on August 7, marking their first show of unity since the Lok Sabha polls. They will strategize on the SIR of electoral rolls and discuss a joint Vice-Presidential candidate. A protest march to the Election Commission will follow on August 8, opposing the SIR process in Bihar, which they allege threatens electoral integrity.

    SIR Issue Unites INDIA Bloc; Key Leaders Likely to Attend Despite Health Concerns

    Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin, who is reportedly unwell, may join depending on his health. Leaders from other alliance members such as Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, and others are also likely to attend.The issue of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has emerged as a unifying factor for the otherwise fragmented INDIA bloc. It has led to continuous disruptions in Parliament, except during last week’s debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.

    Controversy Sparks Renewed Unity Effort in Opposition Bloc Amid Internal Rifts

    Formed last year to counter the BJP, the INDIA bloc has faced challenges in maintaining unity since the general elections, with internal disagreements surfacing—particularly over issues like the Adani-Hindenburg row, where not all parties stood with the Congress-led push.Yet, the ongoing controversy over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has brought the alliance members together, as they view it as a serious threat to electoral integrity. With rising doubts about the bloc’s coherence, leaders now hope that the August 7 dinner and subsequent protest march will signal a renewed show of solidarity.
