On May 6, 2025, India carried out “Operation Sindoor,” striking nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), which were allegedly supporting cross-border terrorism. The targets included locations linked to militant groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), known for their involvement in attacks against India.
The chosen locations, such as Bahawalpur, Muridke, Tehra Kalan, Sialkot, Bhimber, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad, were believed to be home to terrorist training camps, operational centers, and logistics hubs. The aim of India’s strikes was to disrupt the infrastructure enabling terrorist recruitment, training, and attacks against Indian citizens.
Pakistan Condemns Operation Sindoor; International Community Calls for Restraint
This operation was a direct response to the April 22, 2025, terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that resulted in 26 civilian deaths. India attributed the attack to Pakistan-based militant groups and made it clear that “Operation Sindoor” was a focused strike on terrorist infrastructure while deliberately avoiding Pakistani military facilities to prevent further escalation.
Pakistan condemned India’s missile strikes during Operation Sindoor, labeling them an “act of war” and reporting civilian casualties and damage to non-military structures. The international community has since urged both nations to exercise restraint to avoid further escalation.
