    During Operation Sindoor, India confronted Pakistan with a harsh reality — Pakistan lacks strategic depth to face the superior Indian military. Despite Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir’s aggressive rhetoric and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s animated statements, India exposed the country’s vulnerabilities fully. Indian missile strikes targeted all Pakistani air bases located east of the Indus River, forcing Pakistan to seriously reconsider attempting another Pahalgam-like operation.

    Pakistan faced a highly precarious situation. On the western front, Baloch insurgents and rising Pashtun nationalism challenged Pakistan’s internal stability. Meanwhile, Taliban-ruled Afghanistan refused to provide any strategic cover or support. India systematically targeted Pakistan’s air defence infrastructure and operational bases east of the Indus, leaving Pakistan’s critical military assets dangerously exposed.

    Operation Sindoor Exposes Pakistan’s Military Vulnerability and Lack of Strategic Depth

    To worsen General Munir’s challenges, Baloch insurgents intensified their attacks on Pakistani forces. These insurgents struck military posts and blocked troop movements from western regions to the eastern front, including Occupied Kashmir. Surrounded by threats from multiple directions, Pakistan found itself with limited options and increasing internal and external pressures.

    With nearly all of Pakistan’s air bases east of the Indus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi rightly claims that the Indian armed forces can reach any corner of Pakistan and strike effectively. Even if a Pakistani missile breaches India’s air defence firewall, India maintains vast depth to protect its aircraft and defence systems without compromising its ability to retaliate swiftly.
