Tensions at the Line of Control (LoC) are heating up, with Pakistan violating the ceasefire for the fourth day in a row. According to the Indian Army, during the night of April 27-28, 2025, Pakistani Army posts opened unprovoked small arms fire on areas across from Kupwara and Poonch districts. Indian troops hit back quickly and effectively in response. This comes after similar incidents on Saturday when Pakistani forces fired at several Indian posts along the LoC for the third consecutive day.

The rising tensions between the two nations come in the wake of the tragic Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, where 26 lives were lost. Since then, Indian security agencies have been ramping up efforts to track down those responsible for the deadly assault.

Security forces demolished the houses of three more suspected terrorists in South Kashmir — bringing the total to nine since the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, officials told HT on Sunday. The homes belonged to Adnan Shafi Dar in Shopian’s Zainapora area, Amir Nazir in Pulwama’s Daramdora area, and Jameel Ahmad in Bandipora’s Naz Colony. In response to the attack, New Delhi rolled out strong retaliatory measures like cancelling visas and suspending the Indus Water Treaty from the 1960s. Pakistan hit back by putting the 1972 Shimla Agreement on hold and closing its airspace to Indian flights. Meanwhile, J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah backed a tough stand against terrorism but warned against actions that might push locals further away, especially those already upset over civilian casualties.
