PM Modi assures action at Sabarimala, vows jail for those behind gold theft

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday made a strong political pitch in Kerala and promised strict action in the alleged Sabarimala gold loss case if the BJP comes to power. He addressed a public gathering in Thiruvananthapuram, where he inaugurated several development projects and flagged off new train services. Modi said those responsible for the alleged theft would be sent to jail, calling it his personal guarantee to the people of Kerala.

Highlighting the deep faith millions across the country have in Lord Ayyappa, the Prime Minister accused the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) government of damaging the traditions of the Sabarimala temple. He described reports of gold theft from the temple premises as deeply disturbing. Modi added that a BJP-led government would ensure a full and transparent investigation into the matter.

Modi said that once the BJP forms the government in Kerala, authorities will conduct a thorough probe into the alleged gold misappropriation at Sabarimala. He stressed that no one involved would escape punishment. Those found guilty, he said, would face imprisonment, as the government would act firmly to protect the temple’s dignity and sanctity.

At Sabarimala event in Kerala, PM Modi promises strict punishment in gold theft case

The Sabarimala gold theft case has sparked a major political controversy in the state. The allegations relate to the removal of gold from the sanctum’s door frames and the plates covering the dwarapalaka idols. Following directions from the Kerala High Court, a special investigation team of the state police is currently investigating the case.

With the Kerala Assembly elections due later this year, PM Modi also targeted both the LDF and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF). He accused both alliances of pushing Kerala into corruption and misgovernance. Modi said the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance offers a third alternative that focuses on development, transparency, and good governance to change the state’s future.
