During a roundtable on Antifa at the White House, Secretary of State Marco Rubio quietly handed President Donald Trump a handwritten note. The note read, “Very close. You need to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce the deal first.” Trump told attendees that the U.S. was nearing a breakthrough in the Middle East peace negotiations.

President Trump and Gaza Peace Talks Gain Momentum
At that time, top U.S. adviser Steve Witkoff, along with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egyptian officials, was engaged in intense peace talks between Israel and Hamas. The urgency in Rubio’s note signaled that negotiators were close to finalizing the first stage of an American-led Gaza peace plan.
Historic Peace Announcement Follows Urgent Note
Despite the note’s urgency, Trump continued interacting with the media, making Rubio visibly uneasy. After nearly two hours, at 6:51 p.m., Trump posted on Truth Social announcing that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of the peace plan. He declared that hostages would soon be released and Israeli troops would withdraw to an agreed line.
Trump praised the achievement, calling it “a great day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, and the United States.” He credited mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for their efforts. Known for self-congratulatory statements, Trump once again highlighted his leadership role in global peace efforts, despite ongoing debates over the extent of his involvement.
