Former US President Donald Trump once again claimed he brokered peace between India and Pakistan. Speaking at the America Business Forum in Miami, Trump revised his earlier statement, saying eight planes were shot down instead of seven. He asserted that both nuclear-armed countries stopped fighting only after he threatened to cancel their trade agreements.

Trump Links Trade Pressure to India-Pakistan Peace Talks
Trump said he halted trade negotiations with India and Pakistan when reports of escalating conflict emerged. According to him, he warned both sides that no trade deals would proceed unless they agreed to peace. The former president claimed that following his warning, officials from both nations contacted him the next day to confirm a ceasefire. He credited his economic pressure strategy for restoring peace, insisting that it wouldn’t have happened without US intervention.
India Denies Mediation, Calls Quite Claim Baseless
India strongly denied Trump’s repeated claims, asserting that the ceasefire occurred through direct military communication, not US mediation. Officials said a ceasefire was reached on May 10 after Pakistani commanders requested a halt to India’s offensive. The conflict began after India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Hostilities ended after four days of missile strikes and cross-border firing, but Trump continues to repeat his claim of playing peacemaker.
