Manoj Tiwary Slams BCCI Over Rohit’s Removal
Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary criticized the BCCI decision to remove Rohit Sharma as ODI captain. He called it a “clear sign of disrespect” considering Rohit’s immense contribution to Indian cricket. Tiwary said the decision was unfortunate and felt like an insult to Rohit’s achievements as captain. Shubman Gill was appointed India’s new ODI captain, with Shreyas Iyer as vice-captain for the Australia series.

Tiwary Questions BCCI’s Selection Decision
Tiwary said it was hard to justify the selectors’ move to strip Rohit of leadership duties. He emphasized that Rohit had delivered consistent results, fulfilling every expectation from a captain. According to him, taking away the captaincy without a solid reason undermines Rohit’s value to the team. He also highlighted that Rohit’s record as captain includes major wins and strong performances in key tournaments.
Possible Role of Gautam Gambhir
Tiwary hinted that head coach Gautam Gambhir might have influenced the decision to appoint Gill. He said the move could reflect an attempt to build a younger team under a new management philosophy. Tiwary added that Rohit deserved far more respect for leading India to major finals and winning the T20 World Cup. He concluded that whoever is shaping the team’s direction might be seeking greater control over the future setup.
