Gambhir And Selectors Criticised After Test Defeat
Former pacer Venkatesh Prasad criticised Gautam and India’s selectors along with the team management after the Kolkata Test loss. He felt South Africa outplayed India on Day 3 despite India dominating earlier sessions. India collapsed for 93 while chasing 124, raising serious questions about planning. Shubman Gill’s absence in the second innings deepened the concerns around the team’s approach.

Prasad Questions Gautam Selection Clarity
Prasad blamed the defeat on unclear selection decisions taken by Gautam Gambhir and the committee. He argued that India’s Test planning lacked consistency for nearly a year. He said excessive tactical decisions continued to hurt India in crucial Test situations. His post pointed out India’s ordinary performance in red-ball cricket under Gambhir. He reminded fans that only the England series ended without a loss recently.
South Africa Dominate With Spin
South African spinner Simon Harmer secured eight wickets across both innings to dismantle India. Harmer dismissed key Indian batters and disrupted their chase with timely breakthroughs. Keshav Maharaj also shattered India’s hopes by taking two wickets in two balls. Their combined effort helped South Africa secure a strong 1–0 series lead. Captain Temba Bavuma earlier guided South Africa with a gritty unbeaten 55.
