Man Slaps Delhi CM Rekha Gupta During Public Hearing, Later Detained
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was allegedly slapped by a man during a Jan Sunwai (public hearing) at her residence on Wednesday, police officials reported. The incident took place when the accused, believed to be in his mid-30s approached Gupta with a set of papers. After handing them over, he suddenly turned aggressive and struck her in front of the gathering. Security personnel and people present at the spot immediately intervened, overpowered the attacker, and handed him over to the police. Gupta was reportedly shocked but continued with the hearing after a brief pause. The accused is being interrogated.

Congress Chief Raises Concern Over Women’s Safety After Attack on CM
Reacting strongly to the incident, Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav termed it extremely unfortunate and unacceptable. He emphasized that the Chief Minister is the elected leader of the entire Delhi, and any attack on her is not just an assault on an individual but also an insult to the democratic system. Yadav stressed that such acts must be condemned unequivocally by all sections of society. He further highlighted the alarming issue of women’s safety, pointing out that if the Chief Minister of Delhi is not safe inside her own residence during a public hearing, then the safety of ordinary citizens, especially women, becomes highly questionable.
