Police said on Monday that the situation in Jagjeevan Ram Nagar remained tense but under control after miscreants pelted stones at a procession of Om Shakti devotees on Sunday night. The attack injured two women, one of whom suffered a serious head injury and required hospitalisation. Following the incident, local residents staged a protest at the JJ Nagar police station, demanding immediate action against those responsible. Anticipating possible retaliation, police deployed additional personnel in the locality and increased security presence. Senior police officers camped in the area and launched an investigation to identify and arrest the culprits.

Situation of Incident During Religious Procession
Based on a complaint filed by Shashikumar N, a resident of VS Garden, police registered a First Information Report late on Sunday night. According to the complaint, the incident occurred between 8.15 pm and 9.00 pm while devotees were taking out a religious procession. Shashikumar stated that he has participated in Om Shakti and Ayyappa Swamy worship for the past 23 years, wearing the Om Shakti garland and carrying the Irumudi as part of the ritual.
The complainant alleged that three to four youths attacked the procession by pelting stones, during which a woman devotee sustained bleeding head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. He also claimed that similar incidents, including cases of arson, had occurred in the past during religious observances in the area. The complaint further alleged that the locality has a significant Dalit population and has witnessed instances of atrocities against Dalits. Calling the incident an attack on religious sentiments and an act of intimidation, Om Shakti and Ayyappa Swamy devotees demanded strict legal action against those involved.
