Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi on Tuesday walked out of the Legislative Assembly without delivering his traditional address on the opening day of the first Assembly session of the year, once again sparking a confrontation between Raj Bhavan and the state government.

As the proceedings began, Assembly Speaker M Appavu requested the Governor to follow established constitutional norms and restrict himself to reading the customary address approved by the elected state government. The Speaker, responding to objections raised from the treasury benches, underlined the authority of the legislature and stated that only elected Members of the Legislative Assembly have the right to express opinions inside the House.
Following these remarks, the Governor abruptly left the Assembly, without completing or formally delivering his address. His exit led to heightened tensions between the Governor’s office and the Assembly, marking yet another episode in the ongoing friction between the two sides. The incident disrupted the opening day of the session and drew sharp reactions from the ruling benches, highlighting the continuing constitutional and procedural disagreements between Raj Bhavan and the state government.
