Early Monday morning, intense rainfall lashed Mumbai, bringing thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds that disrupted traffic flow and affected suburban train services in several areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) placed the Madhya Maharashtra region under an orange alert and predicted “very heavy rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and squall” for the day.
IMD issued specific warnings for various parts of Mumbai, including Dadar, Mahim, Parel, Bandra, and Kalachowki, alerting residents about possible thunderstorms, heavy showers, and gusty winds. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) confirmed that the city and suburbs did not face major waterlogging, although some low-lying areas experienced localized flooding.

At around 3 a.m., the weather department posted an update on X (formerly Twitter), informing citizens that light to moderate rain would continue over Mumbai and surrounding suburban areas for the next three to four hours. Officials keep the city on high alert as they monitor the evolving weather situation.

According to IMD, the day’s weather forecast predicts a “generally cloudy sky with heavy rain.” The minimum temperature will likely settle at 24 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature will reach around 31 degrees Celsius. The weekly weather prediction board shows that rain will continue consistently throughout the week in Mumbai.
