PM’s address overshadowed by Trump’s revelations: Congress seeks clarification on US claims

Former US President Donald Trump recently claims that his administration played a key role in preventing a potential nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan. Trump stated that his team defused tensions by assuring both nations of increased trade opportunities with the United States if they agreed to step back from confrontation.

Just minutes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered an emotional address to the nation regarding Operation Sindoor, the Congress party raised concerns over Trump’s remarks. The party questioned whether the US trade promises led to the halt of the military operation against Pakistan.

Additionally, the Congress demanded clarity on whether Prime Minister Modi accepted American intervention in sensitive matters like Kashmir. They urged the government to respond to Trump’s claims and clarify the extent of foreign influence, if any, on India’s strategic decisions.

In a post on X, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh slammed the government, demanding that PM Modi and his supporters answer. He stated that Trump’s remarks overshadowed Modi’s address and questioned India’s stance on US mediation, talks with Pakistan, and market access to the US.
