A shocking revelation has emerged in the case of Dr Mahendra Reddy, a Bengaluru-based surgeon accused of murdering his dermatologist wife, Dr Kruthika Reddy. Police said the accused sent a message to his lover shortly after the crime, confessing, “I killed my wife for you.” Investigators discovered the message on a digital payment application during the forensic analysis of his phone. The message has become a key piece of evidence in proving motive and intent. Officials said the woman, with whom Mahendra was in a relationship, was questioned and her statement recorded. Her identity remains undisclosed as the investigation continues.

Bengaluru Confession Found on Digital Payment App

According to the police, the confession was sent through the chat feature of a digital payment platform, which the accused frequently used to communicate with the woman. Investigators said the method was likely chosen to avoid suspicion, as such applications are not typically monitored for messaging. The confession message was retrieved and authenticated by forensic experts. Authorities have also recovered deleted chat fragments and financial transaction details linking Mahendra to the woman. Officials said these findings suggest an ongoing affair and emotional involvement that may have led to the crime. Police believe the message was sent minutes after the murder took place at the couple’s residence.

The incident occurred on April 21, when Kruthika suddenly fell ill at their home and was rushed to a nearby hospital by her husband. Doctors declared her dead on arrival. Initially, Mahendra claimed that his wife was unwell and under treatment, but subsequent forensic tests revealed otherwise. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report confirmed traces of Propofol, a powerful anesthetic drug, in her organs. Investigators later found syringes, cannulas, and injection tubes at their home, indicating a deliberate medical procedure. Kruthika’s father filed a complaint, accusing his son-in-law of intentionally overdosing her to make the death appear natural. Police believe Mahendra used his medical expertise to execute the crime with precision.

Police Arrest Surgeon After Six-Month Probe

Dr Mahendra Reddy was arrested on October 15, nearly six months after the alleged murder. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said all evidence pointed to Mahendra’s direct role in the crime. “He brought her to the hospital and did not reveal any medical intervention. The investigation later showed she was injected with sedatives, proving malicious intent,” the commissioner said. Police suspect the murder was preplanned and motivated by Mahendra’s relationship with another woman. Investigators are also examining whether financial or emotional manipulation played a role in the killing. The confession message and forensic findings are expected to be crucial in the upcoming court proceedings.

The case has sparked widespread outrage across the medical community, raising concerns about the misuse of professional knowledge. Both Mahendra and Kruthika worked as doctors at Victoria Hospital, and colleagues described them as a well-respected couple. Their marriage in May 2024 appeared stable, though investigators believe personal disputes had escalated in recent months. Officials said the surgeon’s confession exposed a disturbing level of betrayal and moral decay. Police are now awaiting final forensic and cybercrime reports before filing a detailed chargesheet. The chilling confession — “I killed my wife for you” — stands as a haunting reminder of how personal obsession can turn deadly, even among those sworn to heal.
