Seven people lost their lives on Monday night when an air ambulance flying from Ranchi to Delhi crashed in Jharkhand’s Chatra district. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), all seven individuals on board, including pilot Captain Vivek Vikas Bhagat, died in the crash. Speaking to reporters, the pilot’s father, DS Bhagat, expressed deep grief over the loss of his son, saying he had chosen to fly air ambulances with the aim of saving lives.
“My son saved many lives by flying air ambulances, but today he lost his own life,” he told ANI, his voice heavy with grief. The grieving father said Vikas was looking forward to meeting a relative for dinner after landing in Delhi. His aunt had prepared a special meal and was eagerly waiting for him, as he had told her he would reach around 9 pm and eat at home. When he failed to arrive even by 11 pm, the family grew anxious and began trying to contact him. It was only later that night that they received the devastating news about the crash, leaving the family shattered.

Beechcraft C90 Crashes After Mid-Air Communication Failure
The seven victims have been identified as Captain Vivek Vikas Bhagat, Captain Savrajdeep Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Dr Vikas Kumar Gupta, Sachin Kumar Mishra, Archana Devi and Dhuru Kumar. The Beechcraft C90 aircraft (VT-AJV), operated by Delhi-based Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, had departed from Ranchi at 7:11 pm to airlift a patient to New Delhi. Shortly after take-off, the aircraft established contact with Kolkata, but around 7:34 pm it lost communication and disappeared from radar.
SuperiAirntendent of Police Sumit Kumar said authorities received information about the crash around 10 pm. He noted that reaching the site was challenging due to difficult terrain. He added that a team from Delhi would conduct the investigation and attempt to recover the black box, confirming that all seven people on board had died. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has expressed condolences and initiated a probe into the incident. Meanwhile, a team from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has visited the crash site to retrieve the black box and determine the exact cause of the accident.
