Actor-filmmaker R. Parthiban has renewed his criticism of Trisha Krishnan shortly after apologising for an earlier remark about her appearance with longtime co-star Vijay. In a video shared on his social media accounts, Parthiban openly argued that Trisha should have avoided attending a recent wedding reception with Vijay, especially after reports that Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, filed for divorce citing cheating.

Parthiban said Trisha, who is over 40, could have chosen not to appear at the reception with Vijay to prevent damage to his public image. According to him, several people had already raised similar concerns and suggested that she should have stayed away from the event.

He further claimed that the timing of the public appearance with Trisha has harmed Vijay’s political prospects more than the fallout from the Karur stampede.

    R. Parthiban Says He Regrets Apology After Seeing Trisha Krishnan’s Post

Actor-filmmaker R. Parthiban has said that Vijay’s recent appearance with Trisha Krishnan damaged his image. The appearance came days after Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, reportedly filed for divorce. Vijay recently entered politics in Tamil Nadu with his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Parthiban believes the public appearance caused political damage.

At a recent awards event, Parthiban reacted to a photo of Trisha during a rapid-fire round. He said in Tamil that the character “Kundhavai” should stay at home. He added that her public appearance creates trouble.

Later, Parthiban clarified that he was not referring to any “third woman.” He said he only felt sad that his words sounded like women should stay at home.

Parthiban also said he regretted the comment. He wrote an apology and used artificial intelligence to upload a video at night. However, he added that he would not have apologised if he had seen Trisha’s post on X earlier.

    R. Parthiban Backs Vijay After Karur stampede

Vijay is currently facing questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation over the stampede at his political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu. The incident occurred on September 27, 2025. It claimed 41 lives and injured more than 60 people.

The Supreme Court of India said the tragedy has left a deep impact on citizens across the country. The court added that the incident has serious implications for public safety. It also stressed the importance of protecting the fundamental rights of families who lost their loved ones.

Last year, actor-filmmaker R. Parthiban defended Vijay against criticism after the Karur stampede. Parthiban urged people not to politicise the tragedy. He said the lives lost cannot be brought back, regardless of compensation. He also called for stronger measures to ensure such incidents do not happen again.
