Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is in stable condition at Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, where she was admitted late Tuesday night. Doctors are monitoring her closely and conducting tests for a possible stomach and urinary tract infection, with antibiotics already administered, according to hospital chairman Dr Ajay Swaroop. She was admitted around 10:22 pm on Tuesday, and a team of specialists is overseeing her treatment. Further updates are expected as medical investigations continue.

Sonia Gandhi was reportedly admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital after experiencing respiratory discomfort. Hospital chairman Ajay Swaroop said her bronchial asthma was mildly aggravated due to cold weather and high pollution levels in Delhi. Sources indicated she may have fallen ill due to seasonal changes and was admitted for observation. They added that her condition is not serious and there is no immediate cause for concern.

Rahul Gandhi cancelled his scheduled visit to Kerala on Wednesday due to concerns over his mother Sonia Gandhi’s health. He was set to launch the Congress campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections with a rally in Kozhikode. Meanwhile, party president Mallikarjun Kharge stepped in and departed for the poll-bound state in his place. Party sources said the campaign schedule will continue as planned, with senior leaders taking charge of key events.

Sonia Gandhi was also hospitalised in June last year for stomach-related issues and was kept under observation in the gastro department. Earlier that month, on June 7, she had been admitted to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital for medical care. Sources at the time said she responded well to treatment and was later discharged after her condition improved.
